NEAT (Non-exercise activity thermogenesis) - this is an activity you do which IS NOT a planned fitness session. 

E.G. - Walking to the shops; Walking up escalators; Parking further away from your destination. 

EAT (Exercise activity thermogenesis) - this is any activity that IS a planned fitness session. 

E.G. Going to the gym; Going to a fitness class; Going for a run. 

On average, the number of calories burnt during EAT will be less than 10% of total number of calories burnt each day. Often, the number of calories burnt from NEAT can be double that of EAT.
